InLife’s top financial advisor shares his driving force for success
For most people, the most common and powerful driving force for success in life is their family. This is especially true for Insular Life or InLife’s Top Underwriter of the Year, Arslie Malipero. His family inspired him to pursue a career as a financial advisor in 1996 and succeed in this profession.
Arslie of CPV Malipero and Associates Insurance Agency, Inc., was born and raised in Davao del Norte, with five sisters. “Being the only male among us brothers and sisters, and being among the oldest, I needed to have a strong sense of responsibility and to work hard for my needs and those of my family. So before I ended up in the insurance business, I worked for five years as a pharmaceutical and consumer products salesman, traveling through most parts of Mindanao,” he explained.
Arslie’s wife, Caroline, a daughter and three sons complete his drive to succeed as a financial advisor. “But over the years, my inspiration to become a competent financial adviser has deepened, with more reason to continue,” he said, adding that from his own family, his driving force for success now includes its clients – the many other Filipino families planning their financial future.
Arslie explained that financial advisors inform individuals and families that life insurance is not just economic value, but income replacement in the event of unfortunate events. He pointed out that an insurance plan serves as a safety net in times of crisis and provides financial freedom and protection.
“The financial advisor has the opportunity to be part of a family’s financial security plan and plays a crucial role in generating funds for family needs, such as education. The plan gives families the financial freedom in which they can support themselves with a quality lifestyle without having to worry about future hardship,” he said.
While last year’s COVID-19 pandemic posed several challenges in selling insurance and meeting face-to-face with clients, Arslie focused on the opportunities of the crisis.
“Customers always had time to answer calls. We also saved time that was usually spent on transportation. The pandemic has opened eyes to the importance that life insurance could have, as the future in these trying times has become more uncertain. I have taken the opportunity to increase my sales activity and respond to my clients’ needs, including updates on the value of their funds, while assuring my clients of the reliability of InLife,” said Arslie.
Financial advisor in sight
Being a financial advisor is generally not on the list of commonly sought-after professions by Filipinos. Beyond the service-oriented focus of this career, why should others consider becoming a financial advisor?

Now 25 years old as a financial adviser, Arslie said he is confident he will continue to progress in his career with InLife.
