General situation of Xi’an Technological University
Xi’an Technological University is one of the high-level universities under the key construction of Shaanxi province. It has a complete academic training system for bachelor’s, Master’s and doctorate degree, and occupies centers for post-doctoral studies.
Established in 1955, Since 1999, the university has been co-constructed by the central and local governments, mainly administrated by Shaanxi province.
The university has a faculty and staff of over 1,800, postgraduate students of more than 2,000, and undergraduates of over 20,000.
There are 15 academic units in the university, including 3 first-level disciplines – “optical engineering”, “materials science and engineering” and “mechanical engineering” – are accredited to confer doctorial degrees, and 3 centers for post-doctoral studies. Currently, there are 15 first-level disciplines authorized to confer Master’s degree, 6 categories of specialized Master’s degree conferment, 20 subject areas of specialized Master’s degree authorization, and 55 undergraduate programs. The subjects cover 8 discipline categories, including engineering, natural science, management, economics, law, literature, education and arts.
The university owns 20 key laboratories and engineering centers, among which 3 are of national level and 17 are of provincial or ministerial level, thus it is able to undertake major scientific projects in the fields of optics, machinery and materials. At present, the university has undertook approximately hundreds of programs of China, including major basic scientific researches, Ministry of Science and Technology, Natural Science Foundation of China, Social Sciences Funds of China, etc. Some key technological achievements with proprietary intellectual property rights have played a major part in national construction.
